Mumbai shoots move fast. A few local things that help your child get booked and keep shoot days easy.
Ad films and TVCs lead here
Mumbai is where most national TV commercials and ad films are cast and shot. These pay more than print but usually start with a look test or audition, often at short notice.
Look tests are mostly in the western suburbs
Production houses and studios are concentrated around Andheri, Versova, Goregaon and Malad. Being able to reach them within a day or two of an invite makes a real difference.
Plan around travel time
Call times are set by the production. Allow for traffic and pack snacks, a change of clothes and something to keep your child busy between takes.
Monsoon changes the schedule
From June to September most shoots move indoors to studios, and outdoor shoots can be rescheduled at short notice because of rain.
Child artist rules apply to every shoot
Under the Child Labour Rules, a child can work on set for at most five hours a day, with a break at least every three hours, and the production needs permission from the local district authority. A parent or guardian is always present, and we check these basics with the brand before you confirm.
